Kelsey Trainor focuses her practice in sports and entertainment. She currently collaborates with the firm as Of Counsel, residing in Los Angeles, while serving as Chief Strategy Officer across film, television production, and sports holding companies. Prior to her current role, Kelsey worked in the sports and entertainment industry in multiple capacities. She served as in-house counsel for a national media company where she oversaw legal and business affairs for numerous websites, podcast networks, tv/film productions and development, book publishing, and a live 24/7 news network. She also served as Vice President Business & Legal Affairs for a sports-betting media startup co-founded by Kevin Garnett. Kelsey started in the entertainment industry working for the hit CBS television series Blue Bloods starring Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck, working in production and development for the series’ directing producer.

Kelsey’s background in production and media has garnered international attention for her views on entertainment and sports law topics. As a former college athlete, coach, and longtime women’s sports advocate, Kelsey has built out a successful “Invest in women. Pay women. Hire women” brand and merchandise initiative, worn by prominent advocates including Dawn Staley, Sarah Spain, Grant Williams, and CJ McCollum. She has spoken at numerous colleges and universities including Harvard Law, Howard University, University of Maine, New York University, Villanova University, Drexel University, and the University of Oregon. Kelsey has appeared on numerous television and radio programs discussing women’s sports and the law.

In addition to her multi-year experience with Black & Gerngross in private practice, Kelsey served two years as Judicial Law Clerk in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, Civil Division and, while in law school, she served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, Criminal Division.
